Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
Final-year students are eligible to apply for the Preliminary Examination, subject to proof of passing before the Main Examination.
Professional degree holders such as Engineering, Medical, and Technical graduates are eligible as per UPSC norms.
Medical students completing internships can apply provisionally.

Salary / Pay Scale / Benefits
Civil Services officers receive salary and benefits as per the 7th Pay Commission.

Gross Monthly Salary: ₹85,000 to ₹1,00,000+ (depending on posting)

Selection Process
The UPSC Civil Services selection process is conducted in three stages:
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination
Objective-type screening test
Two papers conducted on the same day
Stage 2: Main Examination
Descriptive written examination
Tests analytical ability, depth of knowledge, and writing skills
Stage 3: Personality Test (Interview)
Face-to-face assessment by UPSC Board
